After the coup, each region and state in Myanmar was subjected to different types of internet shutdowns. Every type of internet shutdown has a significant and negative impact on human rights, including freedom of expression, freedom of information, and freedom of assembly. Here, you may observe that we are collecting data on internet shutdowns in each region and state that have occurred since the coup.

Digital Coup

After the coup, the SAC oppressed the internet and digital freedom. Because the protesters used the Internet and Social Media for their democratic movement called the Spring Revolution. The MIP called that Digital Coup means the recorded data of restriction incidents by the military coup.

Digital Resistance

The protesters who against the coup use multiple ways of resistance for democracy and freedom. They use a lot of forms of protest for the Spring Revolution and, raising for the funding. The Digital Resistance expresses the methods of resistance by digital.

Rohingya Crisis

The genocide incited on social media was one of the issue of the Rohingya Crisis. That occurred within seven years of 2012 to 2017. The MIP expresses the issue of the genocide incited and Rohingya crisis.

Social Media Users

In Myanmar, the internet users used social media as the internet, especially Facebook. When the SAC shut down Facebook a lot of social media users moved to Twitter. Nowadays, social media users are using multiple platforms of social media.

In 2020, Myanmar's election campaign, candidates used social media as an Internet, especially Facebook. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the off-line campaign was limited and the online campaign was the best way to connect electors. The MIP recorded the manner in which candidates used the Internet for the 2020 election campaign.
